The above statement seems to be one of the favorite sayings of the racist. Let’s take a closer look at what it really meant to be a “Slave.”

Roman Slaves:

• Slaves were clothed and fed well, often better than poor free Romans
• “Some” slave owners…

Not quite sure what the argument is here - most Europeans wouldn’t know if their ancestors had been slaves 2000 years ago in ancient Rome or Greece - though you may want to check out how indentured white “servants” were treated in the US. Better than the black slaves on the whole, though not much so - often starved, beaten & raped, used as prostitutes or worked to death on farms & in factories, sometimes pressed en masse into armed service & used as cannon fodder. Things don’t change so much - you’ve lost your union rights in Minnesota, and many of your firms use near as damn it slave labour in sweatshops in Cambodia, Vietnam & Thailand, where people often die from lack of decent provision, e.g. fire regulations.
